After reading the article by Corbell, Osborne, and Reima (2010) on the Perceptions of Success Inventory for Beginning Teachers (PSI-BT) instrument, I decided to add a page for instruments used in retention, attrition, and mobility studies.

New Home For Retaining Teachers

Retaining Teachers is paid for by the Tux Reports Network. Today, the information was moved under the umbrella of the network. This will make maintenance easier. It also provides an opportunity for more work to be done to improve the site.

The forums were not installed.

Added Page for Induction Programs, Action Research, and Teacher Education

Added a new page dedicated to articles focused on induction programs; a page for action research; and a page for teacher education.

Only one article is available on each page but please let me know of any that you’d like listed.

History section reworked

Changes were made to the history section of the website.

Added an updated sentence on the number of currently hired teachers (3.7 million)
Added sentence on leavers for 2003 (over 621,000)
Added new paragraph to separate out reasons for concern
Flipped two paragraphs for better flow

I am still considering adding an alternative explanations paragraph (sentence), pointing to the models page.

Finally!

WordPress installation is now complete so that updates are faster. This area will replace the wiki used last year.

Archived article listings are now located in the directory /research and will be moved to new pages within WordPress.

A few tweaks are left on the menu structure of the WP installation.

Update: Menu is complete. Articles are now included in WP.

Discussion Area Created

A site goal is to provide an area for visitors to discuss the latest research on teacher retention as well as an area for public and private schools. A secondary goal is to provide an area for visitors to provide feedback and article suggestions.

To move closer to fulfilling this goal, the bbPress plugin 1.2 was installed this morning and the three main forums were created. Next, links to the forums were made available in the main menu.

New Home, New Server

I apologize for the error over the last few months. The files for the website resided on a server that was removed from operation. The html files for retainingteachers is now available on a new, faster server.

The articles need to be moved over to the newer html layout, newer articles need to be added.

Let me know if you have a particular article you’d like added to the listings.
